Wow 2020 has been a year! So much change and uncertainty; so many of our freedoms (and with them, hopes and dreams) taken away or put on hold.
So where do we go from here? How do we move forward?
For me, when I’m feeling lost and uncertain – as I have done multiple times this year – I always return to setting a few goals. I find it the best way to motivate and inspire myself, and to get a hold on my mental health when things feel like they’re crumbling around me.
Here are some of the reasons goal setting is good for your mental health:
It doesn’t take long to set goals, all you need is a little bit of undisturbed time and a pen and paper. I recommend doing a short meditation before you start, to help you get into an introspective mental space.
So, what do you want from the next year…? Take some time to ask yourself over the festive period. Make your goals specific and achievable. Write them down in the present tense (I will achieve XXX) and give them a time-stamp (in XXX months time).
If you need a little extra guidance, I have a Goal Setting Workshop this January 9th (also available on replay if you miss it). It’s two hours long and will help you reflect on the past year and feel inspired to move forward with the next.
Happy New Year all, may 2021 be your best year yet – whatever that means to you.
With love,
Lily x
